Eventhough I try to stay away from political topics as much as I can but the interesting statements by politicians and ministers keep on forcing me to write something. On yesterday’s blast Rehman Malik talks on Geo about National Security.
“We are on high alert and we knew all the details that bombers have entered in the major cities. We are on high alert that is why the suicide bomber was unable to reach the target and the brave security guard stopped him on his way and held him. Which eventually resulted in the bomber exploding himself.”
From the looks of it seems like Mr. Rehman Malik hardly knows what the term National Security means let alone devising a strategy to ensure one. If agencies are so strong that they give spot on details of events that are going to happen then why no action is taken before hand and preventive measures are taken rather then corrective measures. I know suicide bombing is the hardest type of terrorism to deal with but there are far better strategies (Like cutting the roots of terrorism, eliminating the root cause by giving rights to deprived people, monitoring the transit of explosives etc.) that can be made rather than Hugging a Suicide bomber (same was the case in attack on Srilankan team). I wonder when our politicians will learn to speak on media and come up with better strategies so that sacrificing policemen doesn’t remain the best policy.
