WM-Tips: Gesture based Keyboard a good alternative
Posted by: yaser In: Windows Mobile Tips
Most of the Windows Mobile pre-bundled Operating Systems have keyboard configured to default settings with very small keys. Whereas WM provides a very good gesture based input mechanism and all you need to do is to realize its there. When iPhone came out (and full credit goes to the Marketing) its input was claimed to be the best out there with no comparison at all. Indeed its good and revolutionary but there are comparable technologies already available. If iPhone is good in preventing mistakes WM provides better mechanism of erasing it (besides other advantages).
There are four basic gestures,
| 1. | Point on a Key and swipe your finger upwards This will have an effect of Shift + key (like letter in capital etc). | |
| 2. | Tap and swipe down anywhere on the keyboard to go to next line. | |
| 3. | Tap and swipe towards right to enter a space. | |
| 4. | Tap and swipe your finger to left and delete a character or selected text. |
Although gestures are available by default but people don’t realize it. Its recommended to use following settings for larger keys and gestures for maximum productivity (Configure from Start -> Settings -> Input).

PS: There are some third party keyboards (like PocketCM Keyboard ) available which create effect similar to iPhone.
