Contextual VAS ads by Telcommunication service provider
Posted by: yaser In: Marketing & Advertisement
Sms or Text messaging service is dirt cheap in Pakistan (infact its near to free) which results in exchange of millions of messages daily. With that much text floating around there is much more value associated to this industry then currently utilized. Take for instance Warid, I get VAS promotional messages from them on daily basis (sometimes more than once a day). With my Windows Mobile phone, ignoring sms is not an issue so I either ignore them or put them in my block list.
Value Added Services are a great money inflow tool and this shouldn’t be happening. What I believes is that there is a very big room for contextual VAS ads and its not that difficult with so much text exchange by a single customer. If Warid would stop sending me messages about ringtones of Latest Indian Songs or Bipasha Basu Wallpapers
(If its not that its about Warid Gaming Zone and Warid could easily know I have a cellphone for which they don’t have a game to sell) and starts sending me ads related to the kind of messages I send or recieve that might be of some interest to me. This could also help the service providers in providing new Value Added Services as well as improving their sales.
Whats your take on this?
