To President Mr. Asif Zardari’s honeymoon tour of America

Posted by: yaser In: Poetry|Politics|Undesireable Sound

Dee hai dawat keh laga lon tujhay mai seenay say
mujhay kuch tau milaay iss mulq kay safar ka sawaab
nahi milli jo bheek dollar kee hum mungtoon ko
kisi haseena see he ker laitay hain sawaal-o-jawaab

“Honorable President”,
Its understandable that you are trying your best to be as friendly/diplomatic as possible to Americans, however you should not forget that you are the Head of a state know as Islamic Republic of Pakistan. You might shake hands or call someone gorgeous (to some extent tolerateable) but moving on to send a clear indication to hug is going too far. Thats something even American teenagers don’t do on first date (If thats what it is for your highness).

On a side note: Aap ke choice ke daad dayna paray gee (you have chosen a perfect “beauty without brains” for yourself)

Thanks to Irfan for pointing out the video

Its just a friendly gesture, may not be the perfect one but i believe Mr. president just wanted to start the conversation on slightly less than too formal terms. A little laugh doesn’t hurt anyone.

Critics just need something to buzz about.

Thats why i wrote, being polite, friendly and diplomatic is something we should be but one has to keep a strict eye on the gestures and words used to portray feeling especially when one is head of a Muslim state.

(While reading this it should be kept in mind that i wrote it because of the reason i mentioned and not because i have anything against the democratic selection of Mr. Zardari.

It’s amazing how bad the comments looked in writing vs. watching the video, where they seemed fairly normal.
Granted Zardari is not perfect but he is lesser of the two evils. Nawaz Sharif in comparison by now would have sold Minar-e- Pakistan and would have implemented his ambition of being the last prime minister and first for life ameer-ul-momeneen of Pakistan or let’s say at least Punjab.

Indeed quite a few comments are needlessly harsh. BUT even though i am pro-PPP still i would say that a President is a person of a certain stature and his words should be well calculated. I wonder if Quaid or Bhutto passed this sort of comments. A President should not be throwing punch lines like an experienced Playboy :/

The person who spend more than 10 years in jail for corruption charges and he was charged as the murderer, and he is famous as MR 10% and he stole millions of pounds from this country because his wife was prime minister at the time, how he could be the President of the same country, I think Pakistani people are completly out of senses. There is no real democracy in Pakistan, because democracy does not mean that only one family wants to rule the country, first fater, then daughter, then son and husband, is this the democracy NO THIS IS ABSOLUTLY RUBBISH. Bhutto family is the most greedy family in the world, they came back to politics only because they couldn’t see Musharaf eating all the money coming from USA in the name of War on Terror alone. So these greedy people have to try to put their hands on these grants, which they were succeded. His current tour proves his intentions, he will always looking for millions of dollars from the world in the name of war on terror, and devolopment of Pakistan, but infact the majority if not all money will end up in his personal accounts. Finally zardari is a theif, corrupt and murderer and the seat for President of a state does not suits to him at all, he should resign immediatly. May God save Pakistan from these thugs.

I am from the United States and have done a little research on Zardari… I have wondered the same thing.. Why did the people of Pakistan elect such a corrupt man to lead them? Someone like this should not even be permitted to run for office, especially not for President of any country. Seems as if there is no one left that is not corrupted in some form or fashion to run for public offices anywhere.

Yaser I didnt understand what you want to say. You even understanding that this was a diplomatic and friendly comment if was just making a laugh of it that was another thing but you are trying to accuse him which is a bad thing. First thing I wonder people are saying Bhutto family came just for money and other luxuries than I’ll be amaze that a family who have given 4 young members of their family due to this politics. All of them knows what they are going to do and what will be their end and they might never see old age again.
Atleast Ill consider him lesser of an evil as he had spent 11 years in jail most of his married life. He was tried to be killed by Mr Nawaz Shariff on a couple of occassion with the help of then NAB chariman Mr Saif Ul Rehman. Even PMLN agrees about it. I think you people still have seen a pic of him when in 1998 a policeman tried to cut his tongue and he was hospitalized for it. He was mostly not living a luxurius life instead during PMLN era he was tortured. If he is known as Mr 10 per and you know all these scandals than its more credit goes to Mr Saif Ul Rehman as if I think some people might remember that everyday after 9 o clock news for the “corruption” he did. I am not saying that he is innocent but many of those scandals were laughable. People dont read newspapers I think. He was not given NRO. He was freed from all except 2 charges in 2003 and it was the time when PPP was still an outcast. NRO was for PPP leaders and PMLN leaders and Zardari till that point had no role in PPP.
As for Bhutto is concern people just have heard his name never read about him. If Bhutto was standing their I have no doubt he can even hug her in front of them. He was a man who fear no one and that was the thing which make him speacial among people and which lead him to his grave.
He has lead his party to victory. If people cant vote they dont have a right to criticize, if they vote they have a right to criticize but no one has a right to humiliate anyone. If they are than Ill ask you which Islamic Republic is this country. I think most of us are educated people who should know that you have a right to criticize but you also have a ” farz ” and that is to respect the decision of others. You dont vote for him but many does and we should respect what they are saying.
And for people who are referring examples of other countries I think as far as I remember every developed country present at this time has such leaders (i can only leave china from this list). Even USA is full of corrupt politicians whom people elect again and again and their law cant do anything against them.
People try to change yourself before the whole nation. Its a bottom up process not a top down.
As far Islamic Republic of Pakistan is concern I dont know which Pakistan you are talking about atleast its not the one in which I live or I have read wrong history of Islam and Pakistan may be and I know many will now argue on this but everyone has a right to say :)

I wonder what part is so unclear in sucha straight forward post. Neways from a very long comment most of it is not even reaction to my post rather to the comments given on it (and the reaction is justified). However you are extremely wrong at one point (which was indeed what i was trying to say), pick any book on diplomatic ethics or gentleman behavior and judge it yourself. As far the poetry goes there isn’t anything unclear in that as well. as far as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is cencerned, sorry to say but even the non molvi version i.e. the moderate islam shouldn’t accept hugging or proposal of doing so in public.
Apart from that neither i have any doubts about glorious history of Bhuttos nor did I pointed any finger on it.

And as far as I remember I didnt see any hug and yes they allow light jokes and it is the non molvi (or semi molvi version) and that part about bhuttos was not for you only thing was pointing fingure on wrong things is an issue. It was a joke which was meant to be a joke which is always a part of diplomatic skills to lighten the conversation and the funniest thing is some people were thinking that He should discuss Pak American relation with a person who doesnt even know where Pakistan exist on Globe

Well most critics in Pakistan also forgot that at that time Republicans were becoming more favourite due to recent announcement of Sarah Palin although this became the reason of their fall after that secondly those critics are also forgetting that Pakistan never has good relations with Democrats. Democrats always favour India much over Pakistan and most of the time during their government we have to face senctions and other external pressure. And still we can see from the statements of Barack Obama what he and his party are thinking and what times we are seeing ahead right now.

@ ayaz: you just proved a point that today the followers of Islam are all those who dont even know a single basics of what Islam preach on which values and rules Islam emphasize on. Why shorten this list why dont include Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Fazulur Rehman, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Zia Ul Haq, Altaf Hussain and all. But yes it easy to point fingers at others as we as nation are getting more and more self centered just wanted our own goals (which we dont even know what they are). To gain respect try to respect others and to make people respect your opinion try to give the same treatment to others. These curse words didnt affect anyone here or anywhere but yes it tells us a lot about the values taught to a person.

Worst times have arrived therefore Mr. 10% (ten percent) have become leaders of our beloved country. I will not go into the details how corrupt our leaders are. Along with corruption they don’t care if poor people live or die. Zardari and his government have sold our country for few dollars and now our national interests are also on sale by him. When I think about the situation in Pakistan my heart really goes, looking at the necessity which Pakistani nation does not have, such as Sugar, Wheat flour, Electricity, Gas, jobs, clean drinking water and there is huge list of other necessities which Pakistani nation does not enjoy. However leaders of Pakistan have turned a blind eye to the problems of poor people. I always wonder that why Pakistan does not utilizes 18 billion people and produce various items which can later be sold in international market such as Airplanes, Fast Trains, Weapon technology and various other items. Leaders of Pakistan have pledged to neglect this nation and they are extremely busy filling their own pockets with stolen poor people’s money. I pray to God that the injustice vanishes soon and we see a real and authentic leader who can lead us through prosperity and happiness. I believe the leaders of Pakistan have failed to look after their country and they have failed to show care. We as a nation should unite together and raise against the ignorance we face today. Thank you
