I have been trying quite a few softwares and methodologies to somehow make Youtube videos accessible on my phone (Imate-Kjam). Built-in Media player has never been a choice for me even for the most common formats. For the known task TCPMP has been the ultimate player for me. Yes it looks ugly but it plays a lot of formats (yeah yeah i know it doesn’t play .RMVB but who does?)
Problem:
- Youtube has a mobile version but WM5 default media player doesn’t support its stream.
- WM6 has a streaming software with it which does play videos from Youtube mobile.
- Youtube mobile has too few videos up for grab
- What if I am on WIFI and want to enjoy good quality videos?
- What if I need all the youtube videos to be accessible to me
?
Solution:
Tried vTap which gives you a cool utility but eventually it came out something similar to Youtube Mobile where not a lot of videos were available, even though the quality was better. I didn’t do anything but was just surfing around and came across
Its a great services which lets you access all youtube videos through Windows Mobile devices in a very convenient manner.
How:
You are just few steps away from setting up youtube access on mobile, just goto there site and they will ask you to download & install TCPMP and after that require you to download & install FLV plugin for TCPMP. With few minor settings of TCPMP (to make it default application for the streaming protocol and buffering settings) you are all geared up to go. YTPOCKET also provides easy searching for youtube videos so that you can stay away from heavy duty youtube web page and it list all the videos for you against a search term. Another big plus is that it lets you download the videos as well. Played a lot of my favorite videos on my Kjam (Assassin creed demo, Steve job Stanford address) and it really made me happy. *Thumbs up* ytPocket
