The best thing about Juma-tul-widda is no matter how hard we try there is still a 99.9% chance that it would occur on the same day in entire country unlike Eid itself. Isn’t that a blessing? Specially keeping in mind what happens to Eids, with almost 3 Eids happening each time for the last 3 years. Same happened this time as well. Peshawar started Ramzan one day before entire country and has already celebrated Eid, at some parts of the country Eid Prayers will be offered today and in Lahore tomorrow will be Eid. Don’t know why it doesn’t seem funny to me at all.
The first thing that comes into mind is if we are to have Eid like this then why do we have a central committee that decides about Shawaal’s moon? Doesn’t that committee deserves due respect from those XYZ Molvees who simply have to disagree with each n every organization run by or governed by the Government. These people do cause confusion in normal people’s mind about Ramzan and Eid and by accidentally fasting on Eid day. I think these people should be properly dealt in order to ensure no one tries to disturb the unity in all provinces. Also according to Islamic teachings if such mechanism is setup (keep in mind the Roweet-ay-Hilal Committee keeps in mind all the prime locations for Moon sighting) then it should be obeyed. However its sad that even such small things don’t fit into our brains and something more than hope is required to fix this problem.
