Modern world is getting better day by day in terms of technology. Industry grooming itself and reaching targets such as efficiency, optimum performace and minimised Cost. Customer aquisition has not been a problem any more but Customer Retention is. In this Consumer world it comes down to ‘Customer Relationship Management’. Thats why we see more and more improved Customer services by service providers.
Telecommunication Industry of Pakistan has surely improved its Customer care/Support departments in terms of attitude. Sometimes i m totally pissed of at my service provider but i fail to convey it when i hear them talking to me so respectfully. However things have not improved in all manners. Lets just take this small incidentfor example, I wanted to Use internet on my Kjam using Warid’s GPRS service and it took me 3 days to configure it with the help of there support department just because of the reason most of them knew nothing about it. Some of them asked me to SMS using my power sim and get the settings, someone told me he will email me the settings, some of them told me to visit there website, a Madaam even told me that Warid’s settings donot support Kjam
.
However it came out to be very simple setting and latter i figured out why it was not working for me …
so Keeping my experience in mind i thought of writting a tutorial about setting up GPRS settings for Mobilink, Warid and Ufone.
[Settings for Warid]
Tap Start.
Then Tap on Settings.
Then Tap on Connections Tab.
Over here select the Connection Option.
Under My ISP Tap ‘Add New Modem Connection‘.
Give Connection a Name lets say ‘Internet’.
Select Cellular Line(GPRS) in the Modem option.
Tap on Next
In Access Point Field give the value.
For Warid: warid
For Mobilink: connect.mobilinkworld.com
For Ufone: ufone.plinternet (this is for Lahore i think for other cities its different)
For Telenor: internet
Tap Next
Make sure all the fields(User Name,Password,Domain) are empty.
Tap Advance button and make sure all the settings are set to automatically assigned option in both Tabs
Tap finish
voila u are done.
[Few Problems that Could occur]
If Your internet still doesn’t work check following.
Tap Start.
Then Tap on Settings.
Then Tap on Connections Tab.
Over here select the Connection Option.
Tap Advance tab and then Tap Select Networks.
In the first drop down select My ISP and Tap OK. (what happens is that auto connecting software goto the connection Category ISP or Work network specified here). If they also dont work then check ur proxy settings in My Work Network option
These settings are slightly different from the ones specified on the respective Service provider’s website, in my case they work better than the original ones.
